Recently, the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection issued a spot check on toilets and other three water-saving products. The results showed that all the 18 batches of unqualified products were intelligent toilets and body cleaners. The unqualified rate of single category reached 40%, and there were unqualified items endangering personal safety. The well-known brands in the field of sanitary ceramics, such as Olusha, Guanzhu and Langwhale, occupy the "half of the country" in the black list. Industry insiders said that the smart toilet industry has just started, a serious lack of supervision and regulation, some enterprises ignore the production standards or ignorance led to the current situation. However, after the national inspection, we have collectively regretted, and upgraded the production process.
Intelligent toilet is 40% unqualified
Hidden dangers of substandard products endanger personal safety
It is understood that this test is the first time that the state supervises the intelligent toilet products in the spot check of toilet products. A total of 52 kinds of common toilets, 25 kinds of integrative intelligent toilets and 20 kinds of independent toilet cleaners (electronic toilet cover) were sampled. Among them, 18 batches of unqualified products were all from intellectualized toilets and body cleaners.
In order to highlight the items related to personal health and safety, the State Administration of Quality Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has focused on the safety items such as input power and current, heating, leakage current and electrical strength at working temperature, moisture resistance, leakage current and electrical strength, grounding measures, heat resistance, fire resistance and safe water level. As a result, many brands are discounting on these most basic projects.
One of the most disastrous areas of unqualified projects is the fire resistance of the seat ring of intelligent toilet products. It is reported that heat resistance and fire resistance are mandatory requirements of electrical safety standards. If the heat resistance and fire resistance of non-metallic materials in electrical products do not meet the requirements, when the product fails or overloads, smoke and fire accidents may occur, which directly endanger the personal safety of users. A total of 17 batches of product seating ring materials failed in the fire test, mainly because the enterprise did not add flame retardants or did not add enough flame retardants in the production process. This problem exists in brand products such as Orusha, Wave Whale, Belang, Guanzhu and Apollo.
Another serious unqualified project is the grounding measures of intelligent toilet products. It is known that this is also a mandatory requirement of electrical safety standards, and the unqualified project may cause electric shock accidents. This problem exists in three batches of products, and Langwhale's products won the bid again. There is also a batch of products, heating does not meet the standard requirements. Drying human body with hot air temperature rise too high, will cause harm to users.
Toilet fires are common
Some manufacturers do not understand safety standards
Looking back on the past news, there have been many incidents of intelligent toilet fire. In 2013, the Dongpeng Smart Toilet of Mr. Liu's home in Dongguan caught fire. "The whole toilet has collapsed, leaving only a block structure. The upper left corner of the socket connected by the toilet plug melts." At that time, some people in the industry had analyzed that the toilet ring might not be flame retardant. According to the Jianghuai Morning Post, a smart toilet manufactured by Shanghai Eurosa Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd., which was rented by Ren, a residential district in Hefei in 2012, also spontaneously ignited a base. Neither of the two incidents disclosed the cause of the final accident investigation. In December 2014, according to the China Business Daily, the smart toilet of Mr. Yuan's home in Xi'an also suffered from spontaneous combustion. The manufacturer explained that it was caused by the aging of the line.
According to the production standard of intelligent toilet, are there strict safety regulations? Some insiders pointed out that there is no complete standard for intelligent toilet at present. The toilet ring part of the product is manufactured according to the standard of household appliances and the lower part is manufactured according to the standard of sanitary ceramics. Subsequently, the reporter consulted the "Special Requirements for Safe Toilets for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances" (GB40706.53-2008), in which grounding measures, heat resistance and fire resistance are clearly specified. Since the standards are clearly stipulated, why is there such a large proportion of products that are not qualified in important projects involving personal safety?
Huang Xinhong, secretary-general of the Intelligent Sanitary Ware Branch of China Ceramic Industry Association, told the Beijing Times in an interview that although the intelligent toilet industry has been developing in China for more than ten years, it has been tepid, the market acceptance is not high, and few people pay attention to it. The traditional industry of some manufacturers is sanitary ceramics. After the project of intelligent toilet, the safety requirements of toilet ring as part of electrical production are neglected. Some manufacturers can say that they do not even know the production standards, which directly led to the results of this sampling inspection so "tragic". In terms of heat resistance and fire resistance, Huang Xinhong indicated that adding flame retardants would increase production costs for some small manufacturers. "The cost of adding flame retardant is very high. Technology does not pass, plastic surface will also appear flaws, toilet ring and toilet cover color difference. So many small factories choose not to add. As for the problems of grounding measures, it proves that the quality control of products is not strict.
But what puzzles Beijing Times reporters is that small factories cut corners and big brands like Eurosa are not expensive. Why should they take risks in order to save tens of dollars? Industry insiders have revealed that many brands of intelligent toilets are looking for downstream enterprises to work on behalf of others, and the quality control is not good, so there will be problems as well. 。
The enterprises involved have been rectified.
Unqualified products can be replaced without reason
Last year, the news that Chinese and Japanese rushed to buy smart toilet rings made smart toilet products receive great attention. Just as this industry has attracted the attention of domestic consumers
At this time, the results of the national inspection have given many enterprises eager for quick success and instant benefit to take the lead.
According to Huang Xinhong, enterprises and associations had been notified in 2015 before the results of the spot check were made public. In view of the problems arising in the sampling inspection, the association actively carries out standard publicity and training, and organizes suppliers and technicians to tackle the technical problems of adding flame retardants. "No reason can be used as a reason for violating the national standards. This sampling inspection has sounded an alarm for many enterprises." It is reported that the enterprises involved have been rectified under the supervision of the association. "Except for a few small factories which can not be supervised, most of the formal enterprises have been produced in strict accordance with the national standards." At the same time, industry insiders said that the overall standard of smart toilet is also in the process of formulating, and we should get rid of the embarrassment of implementing two standards for one product as soon as possible. In addition, Huang Xinhong also expressed the hope that the relevant departments of the state would strengthen supervision over the industry: "For example, this spot check is the first time for this industry, but the promotion role should not be underestimated. In the future, with more supervision, enterprises will naturally become more self-disciplined and standardized. After all, no one is willing to smash their own brand."
Industry insiders also appeal that smart toilet products are still the trend of development in the future. There are not a few smart toilet enterprises with strong technology in China, many of them are still doing OEM for Japanese brands, so there is no need to lose confidence in such products because of the behavior of a few enterprises. "Spontaneous combustion accidents, etc., are minimal probability events." Regular brand goods purchased in large supermarkets can still be used at ease.
How can consumers who accidentally purchase the unqualified products announced this time safeguard their rights and interests? Beijing Times reporter consulted 12315 hotline and learned that if the production batches, dates, models of their products are identical with the unqualified products, and there are shopping vouchers, they can ask the merchants to return the goods without reason.
